Bulky waste consists of unwanted household items that will not fit into your wheelie bin. Examples include washing machines, furniture, beds and carpets. We will also collect fixtures and furnishings, such as baths and sinks. Click here for a full list.
BulkyWaste.org is a charity waste disposal service delivered by Recycling Lives, an award-winning recycler and social welfare charity with strong social, ethical and environmental agendas. Our charity collection partners comprise charities, social enterprises and not for profit organisations within all of the 440 UK local authorities.
You can select a preferred date for your collection when you are making a booking. We will contact our collection partners and try get that date arranged for you.
We will confirm all dates and items before taking payment from you.
Costs can vary from region to region depending on a number of factors. However, we work to make our prices as competitive as possible. To find out how much you will have to pay, simply go to the bookings tab and enter your details. You’ll get an exact cost before you enter any payment details, so there’s no obligation to complete the transaction.
Bulky Waste is a charity service. All of our collection charges go to local charities and social enterprises, which means that 100% of your payment will be used to fund the collection service and benefit vulnerable people in your community.
Once you’re happy to confirm the collection booking, payment is made by credit card or debit card, and you’ll receive an email confirming the transaction.
No, our Bulky Waste collection partners are happy to remove items from the ground floor of your home, or from the first floor by special request.
Picking up items from inside your home stops them getting damaged by the weather. We try to re-use as many of the items we pick up as possible, so it’s important that they stay in a good condition.
While Bulky Waste agents will take as much care as possible inside your home, and are happy to wear protective shoe covers, we do ask that you move any items that could get damaged during collection.
Bulky Waste collection partners are unable to collect the following articles:
Explosive and flammable substances:
Gas or fuel containers e.g. butane, propane, acetylene; flammable liquid, e.g. petrol/gasoline, diesel, turpentine & paint thinner or any material capable of spontaneous ignition or combustion.
Chemical and Toxic Substances:
Chemical Containers previously holding any chemical or toxic substances, which pose a risk to health, including: acids and alkalis, irritants, corrosive or bleaching substances – e.g. mercury, chlorine.
Medicinal or commercial isotopes, poisons, infectious susbstances.
Biological Hazardous Material:
Animal carcases, offal, food waste, blood, bacteria and viruses.
Garage roof sheets or asbestos sheets of any kind, old boiler pipe insullation, old insullation sheets of any kind.
While Bulky Waste is a charity service, we believe in commercial standards and competitive service. As our customer, you have the right to expect top quality service from the moment you make a booking to the point at which your bulky waste is collected.
